The Grand Canyon: For many people visiting one of the Seven Wonders
of the World is a once in a lifetime experience! The Grand Canyon
National Park is one of those Seven Wonders of the World. The Grand
Canyon National Park is located in Northern Arizona and visited
more then any other national park, hosting 4 million visitors a
year. The Grand Canyon National Park can been seen via car or driving
tour, hiking, backpacking , horse back riding, mule, or rafting
down the Colorado River. While deciding how you are going to get
around and see the Grand Canyon you need to also think about what
part or parts of the Grand Canyon you are going to visit. The Grand
Canyon has five different areas to visit all varying in difficulty.
There is the North Rim, the South Rim, the Inner Canyon, Rafting
the Colorado River and the Tuweep. Below are the two most popular
areas of the grand Canyon, the North Rim and the South Rim. For
information about tours to the Grand Canyon visit Grand

One of the more difficult places to hike is North
Rim. The North Rim is located 8000 above sea level and cooler then
the South Rim with frequent thunderstorms in June, July and August.
When visiting the North Rim there are three developed scenic destination
view points. They are Point Imperial, Cape Royal and Point Sublime.
Although the views from most places on the Rim are spectacular these
three view points will give you the best views on the North Rim.
The North Rim is open from mid-May to mid-October each year.
The most popular area of the Grand Canyon is the
South Rim. One of the reasons for its popularity is the fact that
is can be viewed via car. If viewing the Grand Canyon by car the
roads to follow are either Desert View Drive or drive down Hermit
Road. Hermit Road runs for 8 miles from the Grand Canyon Village
to Hermits Rest. If you would prefer to hike the South Rim the best
views are on the Rim Trail. The Rim Trail goes from the Pipe Creek
Vista to Hermits Rest as well. To view the Colorado River and the
Phantom Ranch visit the Yavapai Observation Station at the Yavapai
Point.
The Grand Canyon National Park is part of the National
Park Service, U.S. department of the interior. The park is open
365 days a year 24 hours a day. The park’s facilities are
also open 365 days a year, but vary greatly depending on the part
of the part you are in. Part of the North Rim is accessible via
wheelchair and wheelchairs are available for daily use by the park.
The South Rim is not accessible via wheelchair. Shuttle buses can
be made available with one day prior notice by calling 928-638-0591.
